Engine oil is one of the most important liquids in your vehicle. It’s used to lubricate all of the moving parts inside your engine and can affect the efficiency and length of life of your vehicle. That is why it’s imperative that you know which kind of oil to choose when getting an oil change and Langley’s is here to help!
Conventional: Conventional oil is the most common and less expensive kind of oil used. It is most often used for older model vehicles that are not considered high performance. While it is cheaper and common, it is also the most sensitive to temperature changes therefore creating deposits in the engine.
Synthetic-blend: Synthetic blend is a combination of synthetic and conventional oil. This helps with an engine’s performance and helps protect the engine from breakdown and wear. Because the synthetic-blend does not break down as quickly, it lasts longer but is more expensive than conventional oil.
Full-synthetic: This is the best option for cars that are labeled high performance. Often newer vehicles require full-synthetic oil as it is tailor made for lubricating and protecting an engine. Full synthetic is a purer oil than synthetic-blends and conventional which makes it better for your engine, it also makes it more expensive.
Euro-synthetic: European oils are very similar to full synthetic, but vary in a few ways to optimize performance in European vehicles. Most primarily euro-synthetic oil contains certain substances to help lower emissions in European vehicles. Additionally, most European vehicles require fewer oil changes so they need a motor oil that will last longer against wear and breakdown.
